Men’s Issues
Men need and deserve therapy.
Some men seek help because they feel they are unable to grasp what it means to be a male in today’s society, with the different expectations placed upon them, and to learn what their way of life is, rather than what is prescribed as a typical male response or behavior.
There are times when we feel we cannot express emotions, discuss what is truly going on, or share fears or desires without being judged or rejected. For some, the highest core value is growing into a man and a leader, while still providing love and support without losing who they are to appease those in their lives.
The greatest aspiration for others is to be confident in who they are and feel good about who they are as a person, while still being able to acknowledge when they are wrong and take accountability, correcting or changing behaviors.
Most men want to hear different ideas about how people see what a man “should be.” They also want to discover themselves in a way to become the man that they want to be, as opposed to the man that they feel they should be
Men’s therapy provides a time for discovery.
Getting to the root of what is going on in your life, including your successes and failures, is a central discussion point for growth and moving forward. Without being judgmental, shameful, or forced to be one particular way that someone believes you should be, we will explore what’s best for you and identify your values to make sure you are living in a way that makes you feel like yourself again.
Our work will start by getting to know you and your beliefs. This essentially allows us to see what makes you tick, as well as what will help you feel comfortable and work through things, rather than being challenged without any purpose.
After a few sessions, we will start figuring out the order for tackling the things that need to be addressed in your life and decide what will have the most significant influence on you, helping you feel better. You may come in with only one thing you want to work on, but through exploration, there may be more things that come up to consider that are also important.
Then, will make sure that what we are working on stays consistent by making you accountable. You bring your successes and missteps from what you’ve done to the session to discuss why they were successful or unsuccessful. Hopefully, by the end of this phase, we will change the viewpoint from failure to falling forward.
Grow into the life you deserve.
I realize that it is hard for men to be vulnerable and voice how they feel. Men’s therapy provides a time free from criticism and judgment, where you can voice your feelings without fear of being judged or misunderstood.
The goal is to ensure you are thriving in all aspects of your life – work, personal, family, and friendships.
If you are a man seeking positive change, I am here to walk beside you as we find ways to make those changes.
